Students, Snow and Climate Change

With a delegation of 22 San Antonio's very own Youth Leadership Organization(YLO) and Edison HS Student Water Action Team (SWAT) rocked the Powershift conference to the ground. They attended workshops, talked in panels and even facilitated a caucus. Some even saw snow for the very first time.

"It was good to see so many students in one place that were so passionate about going green and recycling." - Melissa Veloz, YLO member

"The high school caucus was an experience that i will not forget. There was talk on the university level but to have a space just for high school student to share there victories and talk about their challenges was so surreal. Everyone was so excited about each others projects and made me realize that most of us are working on the same things and have many of the same struggles. We were there supporting the students and they just ran with it, it was amazing." - Sandra Garcia Youth Organizer SWU

" We went sight seeing one of the days and it was cool because we got to see where president Obama lives, we couldn't go in but it was still cool and we saw the capital and where legislation happens and our representatives work."

One of the days was lobby day were set up meetings with Ciro Rodriguez and Charlie Gonzalez. Unfortunately those had to be canceled since on Monday 2nd the city had to shut down for 2 hours because of snow. Our delegation was not prepared to walk for those conditions, some hadn't even seen snow. At last we decided that getting home safely was our priority so we set for San Antonio arriving safely on Tuesday evening.
